Stand
alone towers...
Self-supporting
towers, designed for free standing solutions, are called, stand
alone towers. Various stand alone tower types can be
considered for your wind turbine. They are tubular towers, lattice
towers, and pre-stressed concrete towers.
The stand alone, lattice galvanised steel towers of the Winglette wind generator, are manufactured using
bolted steel profiles. The lattice construction is based in
the principle of only using material where forces have to be
guided through a structure. This principle, which comes through more than a 100 years of experience with thousands
of electricity transmission pilons, results in huge savings on material, while at the same time increasing stability, when
compared to closed structures, like tubular steel towers.
The
advantages of lattice stand alone towers:
- Their
design has been proved over more than 100 years.
- Our
stand alone towers are offered to heights of 100ft(30m).
- They weigh less than tubular- or pre-stress concrete towers.
- They
have increased stability.
- Any
possible defects can easily be inspeced for.
- Installation
is a relative easy procedure.
- They
have huge savings in cost when compared to similar towers. Usually about half
(1/2) of that of a tubular tower.
- They
have less wind shade than solid type towers.
- They
are relative inexpensive to manufacture.
- There
are more lattice tower manufacturers, than ones that fabricate
tubular towers.
- They
can be easily hot dip galvanised,
where as tubular tower normally must be painted.
Winglette's stand alone lattice towers, with their timeless design, and
combination of extreme durability and strength, is suited for
almost every possible location and function.
